‘Consolle Ryu’

Duccio Grassi,  in collaboration with Marmi Faedo, Oemmebi e Cromonichel

Duccio Grassi takes his cue from the benign myth of Ryu (the Japanese dragon) to investigate the relationship between light, volume and materials with a console/sculpture in acid-etched brass with a stone top. “The sinuous shape of the console, seen from above,” Grassi says, “suggests an organic form, an impression that is immediately countered by the forceful vertical thrust of the brass covering”.

The activity of the studio of Duccio Grassi focuses mainly on retail design, contributing to set its coordinates with prestigious international projects for the Max Mara Group, for which the firm has designed the most important flagship stores around the world for over 25 years. Studio DGA, with offices in Reggio Emilia and Milan, is also very active in the Middle and Far East, with projects for villas, buildings, hotels and shopping centers.

Marmi Faedo is specialized in the manufacture of various type of marble. The company’s flagship product is the Grolla marble, exclusive material of Marmi Faedo. This particular marble is extracted in the valley of Cornedo-Valdagno near Vicenza, in the only existing quarry in the world and it is property of Marmi Faedo. Moreover Grolla marble is particularly suitable for external use because it is particularly resistent to frost, atmospheric agents, salt water, pollution and it is appropriate for the facing of buildings using the bonded or ventilated systems, as for external floor coverings.
It is in public buildings that Grolla can reveal all its fascinating qualities, giving life to environments that combine great architectural merit with a warm atmosphere, thanks to the pink and beige nuances in the stone.
